2026 Denver Trip

Day 3 : Altitude ThicknessĀ

We’re feeling more refreshed after getting a longer nights sleep last night, so we’re up and at it shortly after 6am.

We found the cutest coffee/bakery called Lilac. They had a Campfire S’mores latte that was absolutely delicious, and what better breakfast to pair with that than a Bonfire Burrito that was also delicious.

We’re heading an hour south to do another activity we’ve been looking forward to – Garden of the Gods!

They have a driving trail as well as hiking trails, and we’re doing parts of both. The main concrete paths go around the rocks themselves, so you’re close up. However the worker we talked to recommended starting with the outer tour, so you can see the whole view of all the rocks from a distance.

I’m glad he gave us that recommendation, because he was not wrong about the views. I mean just look at these!!

The overall walk was about 2 miles and took around 2 hours. We were enjoying the views and taking lots of pictures, and overall it was a perfect hike. We also TOTALLY lucked out on weather today. It was overcast the entire day and about 78-80 degrees. Fantastic hiking weather. Especially given how hot and sunny it was yesterday.

Once we did the outer path, we headed into the closer path. We got to see the rocks close up, and we even saw climbers scaling them😳

You’re able to climb locally on the rocks, so here’s me standing on Sleeping Giant!

After that hike we drove down the roadway path to a more southern part of the park. Here is where the Siamese Twins are. If you line up the angle correctly, you can see Pikes Peak directly through the center hole!Ā

We wrapped up our stop and headed to get lunch at In-N-Out. We don’t have these in CT or close to Madison in TN, so we were happy to have the chance to eat there. Delicious as always!Ā

My cousin also recently got based in the army in Colorado Springs, and she was able to join us for lunch! It was a great time catching up since it’s been years since we’ve actually seen each other.

Our only other plans for the night are going out to a nice dinner and getting some cocktails so we head back to our place to get ready.Ā Madison found a cute local pasta restaurant for dinner, Coperta, and we ordered some appetizers and entrees for dinner. Everything was SO good!

We had a reservation for cocktails after dinner, which we wrapped up earlier than anticipated, so we figured we’d just head there early. Except when we made it to our car to leave… the unthinkable happened.

Madison just stared at me when I got into the drivers side and said “bitchhhhhh you’re never going to guess what just happened.”

We were just talking about how her shoes were making her walk weird, so I thought she was going to say her shoes broke.

She looks me dead in the face and says I ripped my pants getting into the truck LMAO

That altitude thickness is something else man.

When I tell you I was crying laughing for a full thirty minutes at least, that is truly not an exaggeration. Legitimate tears rolling down my face uncontrollably. My abs hurt. I have never laughed so hard in my entire life.

I’m talking a full booty rip. From the center, right up the seam, and down the leg. Something you can’t possibly pass off or fix yourself. RIP (pun intended) those cute daisy jeans. I will forever be thankful for the laughs. I’m adding the videos as we speak to my favorites folder for a pick me up on a hard day.

In case you need a pick me up, please watch below video. You will not regret it. I guarantee you will also cry laughing. (thanks Madd for giving permission to share this downright hilarious moment)

In case that wasn’t enough, when she tried to re-enter the truck, she ripped them again!!

Cue additional tears and trying to catch your breath in between dying laughing all over again.

I truly could not tell you the last time I laughed this hard. I continued laughing the entire drive to the Airbnb so she could change into new pants. Madison was having a full crash out of this moment, and I’m just hysterical next to her. What a core memory.

A quick change and we were on our way back out to get some cocktails at Wonderyard, an Alice In Wonderland themed restaurant. We ordered the Le Cloud cocktail which is vodka, strawberry syrup, egg while, lemon, and a mini cotton candy cloud above.

You let the cotton candy dissolve into the drink, and it adds a new flavor to it! We honestly think the drink was so much better after adding it in.

We took some cute pictures and then ordered espresso martinis to end the night. We continued laughing about the ripped pants.

Today was a great day and one I will never forget.

Tomorrow is our last full day here and we’re finishing up all the rest of our itinerary. Luckily, we get to sleep in until about 8am!

See you then <3
