2025 Punta Cana Trip

Day 3 : Bugged Out

Boy was that sleep last night much needed! Everyone awoke around 8am so we could have enough time to get ready, eat breakfast, and make it to our meeting spot for our excursion today.

We’re going buggy-ing!

Today’s excursion is our favorite thing we have planned. We got to drive dune buggies to 3 different spots.

First stop – Macao Beach. This is the same beach we went to yesterday albeit a different, much quieter and less busy area. While there Madison finally got her coconut!

Second stop – a “typical Dominican house”. This was essentially an all in one factory type set up, also similar to a stop we made yesterday. They made chocolate, coffee, coconut butter, green tea and cigars here.

Yesterday we got the demonstration, today we got the taste test! Instead of trying the raw chocolate, we tried warmed chocolate, green tea, and Dominican coffee. The chocolate was by far the best of the three, but they were all pretty good.

The thing about the DR is the number of stray dogs around. Super skinny, hesitant, and tails tucked between the legs, but super sweet. We saw the cutest puppy at our stop today and Izzy got some belly rubs in! If we could take these dogs back with us, we would.

Next stop on our list was our absolute favorite – a trip to an underground water cave where we’d be able to jump into a 25ft deep natural spring! This was MUCH NEEDED and super refreshing, especially after getting all dusty during the buggy rides. We didn’t get to spend as much time here as we’d would’ve liked since you get a limited time at each spot, and also didn’t get as many pictures since we were enjoying the water, but the time we did spend here was well worth it.

Once we were back to our resort we ate some lunch and hit the pool! There has been a water aerobics / dance class going on when we’ve been at the pool so we’ve been joining in on those which has been super fun. Other than that, it’s just pool time as usual. Enjoying the sun, enjoying the water, and enjoying our company.

With tomorrow being our last full day ( 😦 ) we’ve decided that tonight was going to be the night we hit the resort club! However it doesn’t open until 11pm… so after getting some pizza for dinner we headed back to our room for some relaxation and naps. Madison and Izzy were pretty convinced they weren’t going to go to the club, but Courtney and I managed to change their minds and it was worth it! Not only did we get to the club around midnight or so, we closed it down at 2am!

Work never stops and getting this blog to you is always on my mind! So was I starting to write this in the club? Yes, yes I was. Can’t say I never did anything for you 😉

Dancing the night away works up a sweat and an appetite, and luckily, the resort taqueria is open all night! We enjoyed some delicious tacos before calling it a night and heading back to our room.

It’s now 4am, and tomorrow’s our last full day so we don’t want to spend it sleeping all day. It’ll likely be a more relaxed day in the sun trying not to get too sunburnt. We were just talking about how this trip has felt long and short at the same time. On one hand, it feels like we just got here and can’t believe tomorrow’s already our last day. On the other hand, the days we have been here have been long so it feels like we’ve gotten so much done (mission accomplished 🙂 ). We’ll be enjoying the rest of what the DR has to offer us before we pack up our stuff and head back home on Thursday.

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post to see how our day went!

Thanks for reading ❤
