So today my uncle had a meeting at work so we were going to leave around 6-6:30am. I set my alarm for 5:30, and snoozed it. At least I thought I did. Next thing I know, my uncle says ‘Brit you ready?’ I look at my watch and it’s 6:04. Oops. Good thing I can get ready fast. 6:12 and I was ready to walk out the door. We head to his work, MacKenzie Fuels, and wait for his meeting to start. It was a pretty quick meeting, so we were out of there at around 8:30ish on our way up to Maine. FYI it gets so bright here so early… **image 1**
We took a scenic route and started at Seabrook. We went all the way up the sea coast through all the beaches and such! It was a pretty nice drive seeing all the super nice houses right on the water. **image 2**
There was even a house in Rye that had a jacuzzi on the roof! Eventually we make it up to Maine! **image 3**
Since neither of us knew the area perfectly, we did the typical tourist thing. Went to the visitor center and got us a map. **image 4**
We finally got to a nice area called Perkins Cove. There were so many rocks and waves crashing over them, and we got to walk along on a trail! **image 5-6**
I couldn’t resist the urge to walk all over the rocks, so I started my way down to the water. It was actually pretty exciting jumping from rock to rock and climbing down all of them. I also want to add that I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I’ve said hello to people today. Everyone here is so nice and friendly compared to in Florida. People always say good morning, how are you, have a good day, it’s great! **image 7**
Just to give you an idea of how far down I was, I conveniently took this picture of how far away my uncle was! **image 8**
I tried to convince him to do a yoga pose with me down on the rocks, but he denied me multiple times. 😦 Once we finished the trail/hike (about an hour long), we made our way north towards Portland so we could eat lunch. We were recommended this place called DiMillos, which is crazy expensive incase you were wondering. However, boy did we grub. The restaurant is even on a boat! **image 9**
We start out with some soups: I got some beef stew with broccoli and my uncle got lobster stew. Then our meals come out! I got Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese which was absolutely delicious… they didn’t have chicken tenders :(. My uncle got some more lobster. Cause how do you like seafood, go to Maine, and not eat lobstah?! **image 10**
Then as if we weren’t full enough, we even ordered dessert. Boy was I spoiled today! Hands down the fanciest dinner I’ve ever been to! **image 11**
After lunch, we hit up some souvenir shops, because my uncle and I were both tourists today. I even found a license plate with my named spelled right! **image 12**
While also in the shop, my uncle picked up some souvenirs of his own. We came across a couple shot glasses. One said ‘Wicked Pissah’ and was a mini red solo cup, and the other said ‘Hillbilly shot glass’ and was a shot glass made out of wood. Along with those, I happened to see a ‘Nut Scratcher’. I’ll let the picture speak for itself on that one. **image 13**
We then made our way back down to New Hampshire and even got to see a submarine on the way back. **image 14**
Once back in town, we hit up a Walmart so we could get some hair stuff since, you know, the airport has too many rules *rolls eyes*. HOWEVER, I’ll have you all know I FINALLY got a portable charger! It’s a super fancy one that says I can charge it 5x before I have to charge the charger! What a great deal! Now I shouldn’t have to worry about having no phone to last me half a day. After our stop, we headed over to one of my uncle’s co-workers houses to hang out and have a fire. It was a perfect night out, and we had a really good time! **image 15**
A little bit later, we headed home to relax for the rest of the night. I’m actually pretty surprised I’ve made it all day, waking up at 6am, without taking a nap! What an accomplishment. Now we’re just chilling at the house probably heading to bed soon since we’re pretty tired from all of our exploring. Tomorrow I’m hoping to meet up with Jamison, one of my best friends from Spring Hill! It should be a good time, so keep checking up!
Ps. The amount of times I have heard the word ‘wicked’ today has actually been totally wicked.
